Just being curious, what's your favourite kind of stone and why? Mine is dragon blood jasper beacause of the mossy green/dark red colouring. Also pretty much anything fossilized (ammonite, coral, fossilized shells).

More about rocks... Anyone have an idea what this rock can be: [link] ? I thought magnetite, but it's not magnetic... Maybe some kind of ore? Found it in a well a few years ago.

And another question. Is there a reasonable way to remove black paint from this kind of agate [link] ? Like by putting it into nail polish remover for a week, or something?  The ones I have would look so much better if the cracks weren't so, erm, black.
