Green beetle by Rrkra Green beetle by Rrkra
A trade with Bronze-Huntress that I kept forgetting to upload.
Made from size 15 and 11 Toho, very shiny.
I like how the antennae came out on this one.

Wow, I can't believe how life-like this beetle is! So shiny, perfectly coloured. You are true master of beads.

wow one of those nearly flew into me today. They are so loud and pretty bad flyers. One came into our living room one day flew against an open cupboard door with a big thud and then landed on the floor with a second loud thud  I had to save him from ending up as crunchy snack for one of our cats

Heh, yea, those beetles are so clumsy...  Sometimes they even bump into people
But they are so pretty, with those iridescent green-to-red wings  =D

I found some interesting textured beads I want to use in it, but not yet started (one more creature to finish before I can start yours, and it's proving to be one tricky bird XD).
Found a bit of time to try making a terror, but not happy with the result yet sta.sh/01tlugbo38sw

Very nice, I do like the different sizes in the legs, it works well :)
Being a biologist though I feel obliged to point out that it's a beetle not a bug, sorry.

Okay, changed it to beetle XD

That is one of the annoying things about beading, there are always details you would love to include but are far too small to sensibly fit on. It does lead to a tendency to increase the size of things though, which means they take up so much more time.

Ohh yea, lol. This'd need to be 4 times bigger to fit the spikes in.... nope :XD:

You know it's gone wrong somewhere when what you are making is larger than what it's based on.

Mega beetles! ...sounds like a low-budget horror movie title :XD:

Could try making those tiny details with some sort of epoxy, though.

Well there are ones about giant ants so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a film about giant beetles out there somewhere.

I'd never thought of doing that. The problem with doing things with size 15s is that you can't then use smaller beads for details.

Pretty sure I saw one about caterpillars. More funny than scary, those movies =D

Well, there are those elusive size 24s (that are apparently not even manufactured anymore =( ), but yeah...
I want to try the epoxy/resin thing, once I get my hands on some.
